informationHaryana Board of School Education or HBSE is located in one of the
wealthiest states in India. The North Haryana is a well develop region
especially in the field of education and agriculture while the South
Haryana is defined by its people mostly professionals, politicians,
soldiers and government employees.
The Haryana Open School was established in 1969 but was transferred to
Bhiwani in 1981. The Haryana Board of School Education pioneered a
reform in the educational system. The Board was the first to introduce
the semester system, the relative grading system, and Continuous and
Comprehensive Evaluation or (CCE) for the Middle, Secondary and Senior
Secondary levels. The school was opened with the aim to provide free
education and encourage everyone especially women to reach college level
and attain Bachelors Degree. The scheme is gear towards those
individual such as out-of-school youths, females, rural and working
groups to enroll in the formal education system. This is in conjunction
with the Haryana Government Education Act for the right of children to
free and compulsory education.
Examinations are administered at all levels twice a year. The annual
examinations are conducted in February and March while supplementary
examinations are provided in November. The eligibility criteria for
secondary high must be 14 years of age upon admission and the candidate
must also submit a proof of birth or a Birth Certificate from the
Municipal Committee. However, for Senior Secondary candidate must have
passed Secondary level examination from HBSE or from any recognized
institution. A candidate who has passed in Secondary and Senior
Secondary examinations and has not been issued a Qualification
Certificate can be admitted or enrolled in Haryana Open School under the
Credit Transfer Policy.
